Emilia Takayama – Cinematic Composer & Producer

Emilia Takayama is a cinematic composer and music producer based in Askola, Finland, working at the intersection of film, sound art, and storytelling. Her music blends orchestral textures and organic instrumentation with cinematic synths, ambient layers, and pulsating electronics — ranging from intimate, atmospheric pieces to powerful, trailer-style compositions with epic scale and impact.

Her passion for cinematic music began in childhood, when a televised symphonic concert performed in a vast cave ignited her lifelong fascination with the emotional power of film music.

That spark grew into a multifaceted artistic path: composing on piano as a child, performing in bands during her studies at the Porvoo Pop & Jazz Institute, and graduating as a professional musician from the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory in 2006.

Alongside a decade of touring as a keyboardist with artists such as Chisu, Hevisaurus, and Anssi Kela, Emilia also trained as a piano tuner and collaborated with numerous bands before focusing fully on composition.

In 2022, she further expanded her craft by completing the Momentum international film music mentorship program (Los Angeles), including studio sessions at Silent Zoo.

Since 2016, Emilia has dedicated her work to cinematic and media music. She has composed for trailers, films, exhibitions, immersive installations, and cross-disciplinary projects both in Finland and internationally.

Her recent credits include:

  • Wings of Love (2025) – trailer and score

  • Treasure (2024, dir. Julia von Heinz; starring Stephen Fry & Lena Dunham) – diegetic music

  • The Land of Snow – immersive audio for Finland’s pavilion at Dubai World Expo 2021 (produced by Genelec)

  • Seven Brothers – contemporary circus film and performance (Otava Project)

  • Dreamer – circus show by Saarni Sirkus, composed with pianola sample

She has also collaborated with London-based artist Joshua James, created sound art for Habitare Design Fair (Avotakka 2023, Genelec 2024), and composed for EU-funded social art projects such as OMA. Her work has been presented internationally, including in New York and Dubai.

As a performing musician, Emilia has played hundreds of concerts across genres and continues to bring that live energy into her cinematic productions. Her upcoming debut album Unsaid introduces her own cinematic voice through singles such as Awe and Antithesis.
